LAOAG CITY – The Provincial Library (Information Hub) of Ilocos Norte is set to distribute thousands of copies of popular magazines donated by a private company to different schools and municipal libraries in the province.
Librarian-in-charge Matilde Nery said more than 40,000 copies of magazines were donated by Emerald Headway Distributors, Inc. to the provincial library here through its “Support a Library Program.
She said the magazines such as Reader’s Digest, People’s Asia, and StarTalk and many other entertainment magazines were donated to the provincial library through the initiative of Governor Imee Marcos, in cooperation with the said company.
She added that they plan to distribute the materials during the conduct of Capitol Express in every municipality.
The Provincial I-hub has been actively promoting the relevance of books and other reading materials as medium of learning hence the expansion of the library under Marcos’ administration.
It has been transferred along the Sirib Mile, the university belt in Laoag City, to make materials more accessible to students.
The project is also part of the provincial government’s goal of developing a conducive learning environment for the Ilocano youth.—Jennifer T. Pambid, PGIN-CMO
