VIGAN, ILOCOS SUR— Around 1,000 Barangay Nutrition Scholars from the different provinces and cities in the region are expected to participate in the 4th Regional Barangay Nutrition Scholars Congress to be held at the Hotelinda Suites, Barangay 8, Vigan City on September 19, 2014.
National Nutrition Council Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Ma. Eileen B. Blanco said the Congress is an activity of the LUPANG Ilocos BNS Federation Inc. in partnership with the National Nutrition Council – Region I to update and equip the BNSs to sustain efficient and effective delivery of basic nutrition services to address hunger and malnutrition in their respective areas.
The theme for this year’s Congress: “LUPang Ilocos D/CNPCs and BNSs: Together in Building Bridges and Overcoming Challenges”.#
NNC1 certifies trainers on Nutrition Program Management and Barangay Nutrition Scholars Basic Course
BAGUIO CITY- The National Nutrition Council – Regional Office 1 certified new trainers on Nutrition Program Management and on Basic Course for Barangay Nutrition Scholars after back to back trainings held at Hotel Supreme, Baguio City on August 4-8 and August 11-15, 2014 respectively. A total of 60 participants consisting of new P/CNAOs, D/CNPCs, MNAOs and BNSes attended the trainings.
The new trainers are expected to train selected local government units in the region in terms of organizing or reactivating local Nutrition committees, formulating local nutrition action plans, ensuring effective and efficient implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition programs in the context of the overall local governance and development system. On the other hand, new BNS trainers are expected to improve the implementation of the BNS programs in their respective areas and to capacitate newly appointed BNSs.
In her closing message, Ma. Eileen Blanco, NNC-ROI Nutrition Program Coordinator, said that the participants are now capacitated and capable of managing nutrition programs in their respective areas.
She added that the NNC is looking forward to an efficient and effective nutrition program implementation in all the municipalities in the region in order to improve the nutrition situation of the region.
All participants can be tapped also as facilitators in the conduct of future trainings as they will be included in the pool of trainers, she said.#
