Ilocos Sur records 4th confirmed coronavirus case

VIGAN CITY — The province of Ilocos Sur confirmed its fourth positive case of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Wednesday, now referred to as IS-C4.

In a statement issued by Governor Ryan Luis Singson, he said the patient is a 35-year-old male, considered an Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR), who went to Manila from May 31 to June 13, 2020.

Prior to his return to the province, oropharyngeal and nasopharyngeal swabs were taken at the Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City.

He came home to Narvacan town on June 14 where he was subjected to home quarantine in Barangay Quinarayan.

The Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur COVID Action Center received the official result of his swab tests at around 5:40 this afternoon which reflected the detection of SARS CoV-2.

Governor Singson said that after due coordination with the local government unit of Narvacan, it has been agreed that Barangay Quinarayan shall be placed on extreme enhanced community quarantine from June 17 to July 1, 2020 or until announced otherwise.

“Contact tracing at both the municipal and provincial levels has begun,” he said.

He reminded the people of Ilocos Sur to stay home as much as possible  as the war against COVID-19 is not yet over.
