VIGAN CITY  — Law enforcement agencies have ensured the protection of all National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) in Northern Luzon for the efficient supply of electricity.

In a phone interview on Friday, NGCP North Luzon Public Affairs Officer Lilibeth P. Gaydowen said that operatives from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces (ISAFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Intelligence Coordination Agency (NICA) pledged their all-out commitment to protect the facilities during the first North Luzon Security-ISAFP Conference at the Hotel Supreme in Baguio City.

“The forum, which was initiated by our agency through our North Luzon Security Group, was aimed to exchange information, best practices, and strategies in order to maintain and ensure the reliable and safe transmission of power. It was also a venue to solicit invaluable assistance and support of all law enforcement counterparts in securing transmission line facilities and pressing right-of-way concerns,” she said.

“The representatives of the different group commanders, under ISAFP and NICA vowed full support in the provision of security of our facilities. Actually, these lawmen are now monitoring and doing surveillance operations, especially in areas where our engineering projects are ongoing,” she said.

“All power supply going to the substations of all electric cooperatives and companies in Northern Luzon will pass through the NGCP lines,” she said.

“Our agency transmits high-voltage electricity through ‘power superhighways’ that include the interconnected system of transmission lines and towers, substations and related assets,” she added.

NGCP is a privately-owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining and developing the country’s power grid.#
