Cabugao, Ilocos Sur – Moves to privatize Cabugao’s solid waste management program are in full swing following a briefing earlier this month on the program’s operation under a private firm.
The Luzon Green Art Technology, Inc. (LGA tech) gathered village officials for an orientation on the program’s privatization which would cover six villages.
The orientation and project briefing was in preparation for the turnover of the town’s solid waste management program to LGA Tech. The company will run the program for a year.
Edgar S. Balangatan, municipal environment and natural resources officer, is hopeful that placing the program under private hands would improve the town’s garbage collection.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was entered into between the local government and the private firm detailing how the program will be implemented.
Under the agreement, the LGA Tech is bound to coordinate with the Municipal Environment Natural Resources Office (MENRO) as to how the program will run.
Organic matter that will be collected, on the other hand, will be turned over to Cabugao.
Part of the briefing was a lecture on the proper waste disposal at the town’s Ecology Center and Sanitary Landfill.#
