VIGAN CITY – Reigning Miss Tourism Universe Julie Ann Tricia Manalo said that despite the many negative images portrayed by the media in the international scenery, there are still a lot of things to be seen for fun in the Philippines.
“We are here as ambassadresses to promote not only tourism of the different places but also to promote the beauty in the people,” she said during a Kapihan Iti Amianan Media Forum here over the weekend.
Manalo, who won 2nd Runner-up in the Miss Tourism Universe beauty pageant last October also said that Vigan indeed is very unique with its ancestral homes, its empanada and its bagnet.
Manalo’s entourage is composed of Marian Alcantara, Miss Tourism Philippines World; Justiene Ortega, Miss Tourism Philippines 1st Runner-up; Jyssy Lynn Almario, 2nd-Runner-up; Sofia Grace Galve, 3rd Runner-up; Princess Kristha Singh, Miss Tourism Luzon and Ravillyn Dumdum, Miss Tourism Visayas.
“We do not only represent tourism but also all the provinces, the people and their culture,” she said.
Manalo and her entourage admitted that their one year reign has changed their perspectives in life.
“This event has totally changed my perspectives in life. As a girl from Nueva Viscaya, I was not only given a chance to represent my province and its hidden beauties but I was also able to represent myself to the world,” she said.
Miss Tourism Philippines Alcantara said that she has learned to appreciate herself and that every woman is beautiful in her own perspective.
“We have different things to offer and that is already beauty in everyone of us,” she said.
