BATAC CITY, May 25 (PIA) – Power distributor Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) received the highest performance rating classification from the National Electrification Administration (NEA) for the last quarter of 2014.
Edgardo R. Piamonte, NEA Deputy Administrator, announced Inec’s achievement during the 41st Annual General Membership Assembly (AGMA) attended by 4,878 member–consumers at the Imelda Cultural Center in Batac City last Saturday.
Record from the NEA showed that of the 121 electric cooperatives (ECs) in the country, 47 EC’s including INEC got the “green” color code rate. The Yellow-1 classification has 50 ECs; Yellow-2, 13 ECs; and Red 11 ECs.
NEA classifies the performance of ECs across the country through color coding: “Green” being the highest, followed by “Yellow-1,” “Yellow 2,” and “Red” being the lowest.
The color coding classification is the latest rating system of NEA in assessing the financial and operational performances of the country’s 121 electric cooperatives (ECs).
The performance assessment was based on three parameters: technical, financial, and institutional management.
Based on the rating, INEC improved on the attendance of member-consumers in the 2014 AGMA which has exceeded the target of five percent from the total member-consumers.
Some 15,651 member-consumers attended the sequential AGMA for 2014.
Engineer Felino Herbert P. Agdigos, the INEC general manager, expressed his gratitude to all member-consumers who continuously support the coop’s plans and programs.
INEC is categorized as mega large EC with a total of 141, 529 membership as of December 31, 2014. Its service area had already covered the whole province of Ilocos Norte composed of 2 cities, 21 towns and 557 barangays.#
