NEW TOURIST ATTRACTION. The heritage province of Ilocos Sur will soon offer a new attraction for tourists. The Spanish-era cemetery situated to the east of the Nuestra Senora de la Asuncion Church, itself a frequently visited landmark and a UNESCO Heritage Site, is currently undergoing restoration under the supervision of the National Museum of the Philippines. Previously overgrown with weeds and vines, the path leading to the cemetery has been freshly paved and upgraded with electric lamps, already luring curious visitors to walk up to the cemetery ground where construction is in full swing to restore the chapel structure (pictured above). The restoration project is expected to be completed by the middle of this year. (photo by Jasper Allibang Espejo)
