This was the statement issued today by presidential aspirant and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo ‘Rody’ Duterte and his running mate Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano.
Cayetano said that if they get elected in higher office come 2016, he and his presidential running mate, Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, would immediately work towards stamping out criminality, illegal drug trafficking, and corruption during their first year in service.
In a 30-second video which is the mayor’s Christmas message, Duterte warned criminals, corrupt officials, and drug addicts to stop making the lives of Filipinos “miserable.”
As part of their platform for 2016, Cayetano said he and Duterte want to bring down the national crime rate by half within one year of assuming their posts. They plan to do this through the implementation of an intensified and aggressive national anti-crime campaign, starting with the country’s identified crime hot spots.
For one, Cayetano said they plan to create a national hotline number, which Filipinos could contact in cases of emergencies. This is similar to the 911 emergency hotline that is currently being implemented in Davao City.
Duterte and Cayetano also plan to conduct an all-out campaign against the prolife-ration of illegal drugs in the country.
Cayetano has attested that among the candidates for president, only Duterte has the ability to do for the entire country what he was able to do for Davaoeños in terms of protecting them against criminals and illegal drug syndicates, and weeding out graft and corruption in government.
Real change is needed, and it is needed now. This is the foundation of the Duterte-Cayetano tandem,” Cayetano concluded. #
