PNP regional office activates Operation SUMVAC

SAN FERNANDO CITY – The Police Regional Office here has embarked on an aggressive police operation to ensure the security and safety of motorists, tourists and vacationers that flock to the region during the holy week and summer vacation in compliance with the Letter of Instruction Bantay Lakbay of the Philippine National Police.

PNP Regional Director, Region I Police C/Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil said he has ordered the deployment of PNP personnel in all transportation terminals and security and traffic patrols along the national highways and roads to provide assistance and ensure the safety of motorists and commuters.

“I already ordered our men in the field to intensify their foot and mobile patrols in crime prone areas, business sites, and beaches to prevent the occurrence of untoward incidents that might endanger the lives of the vacationers,” Bataoil said.

Bataoil also instructed his personnel to put up motorists assistance stations that operate day and night in every municipality along the national highway as part of their annual SUMVAC activities.

“We also activated  the Magilas trail to avoid congestion in the bottleneck of Urdaneta City to give way to those going up to Baguio City,” Bataoil added.
