Police launch supplemental feeding, reading program

police here has launched the project dubbed as “Feed and Read to
Lead”, a supplemental feeding program and promotion of reading
among the youth.

The project
which has the funding support of the Philippine Military Academy
(PMA) Class of 1976
other locally based non-government organizations like the Association
of Community Educators, Teachers and Administrators (ACETA) led by
Benjo Carganilla, the Community Health Educators (CHEP) led by
Felomina “Baby” Montemayor and the Eagles Nest Christian Academy
led by its administrator Sheryl Lyn Ramos
aimed at popularizing the love of reading among children cum with
supplemental feeding.

include PNP Chief Director General Jesus Versoza, Metro Manila Police
Chief, Leopoldo Bataoil and Ilocos Region Police Chief, Luizo Ticman.

children and at the same time feed their mind by inculcating to them
the love of reading,” said Liza Melendez, a successful certified
public accountant who hails from this town and the incumbent Rotary
Assistant Governor of District 3790.

The activity is part of the
10-point progress agenda on Social and Health Services of the
incumbent mayor, retired PNP Gen. Reynaldo Velasco.

The launching included reading of
the achievements of successful citizens and heroes from this town
such as the late Sen. Daniel Maramba and World War 2 hero, 2nd Lt.
Cornelio Bustillo.

Tim, an American Peace Corps volunteer who works at Kalinga ng Ama
Shelter for Children, a locally based orphanage, led more than 500
children in reading an article on the exploits of Velasco as a
soldier and policeman.#
