SAN JUAN, Ilocos Sur — “Don’t join any leftist group. That’s the least you can do.”
This was the piece of advice given by Police Officers Jonalyn Ricaňa and Precious Sarmiento Paoa to the 185 student leaders of San Juan National High School, San Juan, Ilocos Sur during the conduct of Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo (KKDAT) here, July 26.
“Be careful when there are some unknown people trying to recruit you to join their group; they might be leftists who are frontliners of the New People’s Army,” Paoa said.
In her video presentation, she said that these groups include the League of Filipino Students (LFS), Bayan, Migrante, Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas, Kilusang Mayo Uno, Gabriela and even the Association of Concerned Teachers (ACT) to name a few.
Paoa also showed video presentations showing the dark side of the dissidents’ group and footages from the Marawi siege.
“You will only destroy your future,” she said.
Ricaňa, who is also the chief investigator of San Juan PNP, earlier lectured on the different kinds of drugs and their effects to the body. Among the types of drugs that she discussed were sedatives, hallucinogens and stimulants. She also explained the effects of marijuana and shabu.
“Don’t ruin your lives,” she said. The KKDAT seminar is a joint project of the school’s Supreme Student Government (SSG) and the National Drug Education Program (NDEP) Club.
