Police raid 3 plantations, burn 432,000 marijuana plants

SAN FERNANDO CITY – Operatives from the Police Regional Office 1 uprooted recenly a total of 432,000 fully grown marijuana plants along the mountain boundaries of Alilem, Ilocos Sur and Bakun, Benguet.

PCSupt. Leopoldo N. Bataoil, Regional Director, said the marihuana plants with an estimate value of P86.4 million, were uprooted in three plantation sites by operatives from the Regional Mobile Group 1, RAIDSOGT, Alilem Police Station and the RIID, PRO1 led by P/Supt. Jacquelino Lagiwid in coordination with PDEA-Region 1.

Bataoil said the major bulk of the marihuana plants were burned at the site and some samples were hauled down to the camp for purposes of documentation and disposition.

“With our continuing and no let-up operations in the tri-boundaries where these plants abound, we hope to eradicate this menace to end the source of income of illegal drug syndicates in Region 1 and also the New Peoples Army,” Bataoil said.

This is the second successful operation conducted by operatives as they intensify the campaign against illegal drugs.

Before the end of the year, operatives from Task Force Green X’mas raided three separate plantations in Mount Capas, Barangay Caoayan, Sugpon and uprooted and burned about 60,000 fully grown marihuana plants.

The burned marihuana plants had an estimate value of P12 million.
