SAN FERNANDO CITY – A seminar on pro-democracy people’s war against terrorism was held here recently through the initiative of the Police Regional Office 1.
The seminar was attended by 46 PNP Officer participants from the PNP regional office, the provincial offices of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan and the Regional Mobile Group 1.
Regional director, Police Chief Supt. Leopoldo Bataoil, said the seminar was the first to be held in the country on pro-democracy People’s war against terrorism through the instrumentation of Napolcom Commissioner Miguel G. Coronel as keynote speaker and resource person.
Coronel is the author of the book, “Pro-Democracy People’s War against Insurgency and Terrorism”, which he discussed during the seminar.
“The publication of this book is very timely and it complements and reinforces the Human Security Act of 2007. The government forces and the Filipino people are now vested with legal weapons in waging war against terrorism,” Bataoil said.
As advocated, the government forces and the people shall jointly wield a three-pronged grand counter-terrorism strategy namely: pro-democracy people’s war, package of development programs and security campaign against terrorism.#
