CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO- The Police Regional Office 1 conferred the Medalya ng Kagalingan to four members of the Santol Police Station in recognition of their successful drug campaign in a ceremony held at the grandstand here on June 2.
PRO1 Regional Director Chief Superintendent Roman A. Felix, bestowed the Medalya ng Kagalingan to Police Senior Inspector Lawrence L. Ganuelas, Santol Chief of Police (COP), Police Inspector Kristoffer King A. Ramos, Police Officer 1 Roy Jucutan and PO1 Olympio T. Millares Jr. for their successful illegal drugs operation in Sitio Kil-ingan, Sasaba, Santol, La Union last March 18-22, 2014.
The Santol police together with the personnel of Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOGT) of La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 1 (PDEA-RO1) arrested a suspected illegal drug dealer identified as Ham G. Bandas, 35 years old and a resident of Sitio Bekes, Takadang, Kibungan, Benguet and confiscated one (1) caliber .45 pistol and around 14 kilograms of suspected marijuana fruiting tops placed in two sacks.
Based on report reaching the PRO1 headquarters, the lawmen chanced upon the suspect carrying the illegal drugs along a barangay road in Sitio Kil-ingan.
When queried on the contents of the sacks, the suspect allegedly drew his gun and fired at the lawmen.
Bandasan surrendered after a brief exchange of gunfire.
Cases against Bandasan for violation of Section 11 of the Republic Act 9165 and R.A. 10591 were filed at the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 34, Balaoan, La Union aside from a case of direct assault filed against him in the Santol Municipal Trial Court.
PCSupt. Felix said such accomplishment is a result of intensified campaign of the PRO1 on illegal drugs and is in line with the “COPLAN HOOK” of Santol Mayor Daisy A. Sayangda and in support to the “OPLAN PAGBABAGO” at the mountainous barangays of Santol town.
The Regional Director added that the conferment of the said medal is in recognition of the cops’ unselfish display of dedication to duty and in accordance with the provision of the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Memorandum Circular Number 93-018 as amended by Memorandum Circular Number 2006-003 in furtherance of Republic Act 6975.#
