CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO — The Police Regional Office 1 celebrated its 112th Police Service Anniversary with Police Deputy Director General Ager P. Ontog Jr., PNP Deputy Chief for Administration as guest of honor and speaker in a ceremony held at the PRO1 Grandstand here August 16.
With the theme “Serbisyong Makatotohanan: Handog ng Pulisya sa Ating Pamayanan,” the event was participated in by PRO1 personnel, local government officials, heads of regional government agencies and non-government organizations, religious and civic leaders, AFP officials, and special guests.
Highlight of the celebration was the giving out of awards to deserving police personnel, PNP units, local government units, non-government organizations, and civilian personnel.
Unit Awardees: Unit Achievement Award in Disaster Rescue and Relief Operations -La Union Police Provincial Office; Unit Achievement Award in the Campaign Against Insurgency – Regional Public Safety Battalion 1; Unit Achievement Award on the Arrest of Most Wanted Person -Pangasinan Police Provincial Office; Unit Achievement Award in the Campaign Against Organized Crimes – Pangasinan Police provincial Office; Unit Achievement Award for the Solution of Sensational Criminal Case – Alaminos City Police Station; Unit Achievement Award in the Campaign Against Terrorism – Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office.

In his message, PDDG Ontog congratulated the awardees and the whole Region 1 police. He also thanked the congressional representatives and leaders of the local government units for their support and teamwork with the PNP for a common purpose of public service.
“Ang inyong ipinakitang kahusayan sa pagganap ng inyong sinumpaang tungkulin ay marapat lamang na papurihan at nais ko rin pasalamatan ang pamahalaang pangrehiyon, ang pamahalaang panlalawigan at ang mga mamamayan ng rehiyong ito sa kanilang patuloy na pagsuporta sa mga programa ng pulisya,” PDDG Ontog said.
Ontog cited the accomplishment of the PNP in terms of housing project with a total of 8,725. He also reported that aside from the 74,000 Glock 17 Generation IV, a total of 23,610 M16 rifles and 2,081 patrol jeeps are set to be purchased to augment the logistical capability of the PNP.
“Sa atin pong pagdiriwang ngayon ng anibersaryo ng pambansang pulisya, atin sanang ipagpatuloy na isapuso ang pangsamahang pagbabago at lalo pang pagsikapan ang paglinang sa kagalingan, disiplina at propesyanulismo ng ating hanay. Patuloy nating bigyan ng karangalan ang ating mga uniporme at tsapa,” he added.
The celebration is in commemoration with the establishment of the Philippine Constabulary in August 8, 1901 and the Integrated National Police in August 8, 1975, both forerunner organizations of the PNP.#
