PRO1, SJBCNL sign MOA on scholarship program

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M. FLORENDO, San Fernando City – Two memorandums of agreement were signed to renew the existing tertiary scholarship program and the six days basic computer hardware servicing and troubleshooting offered by a college here for PNP personnel and their dependents.

Police Senior Supt. Moro Virgilio M. Lazo, officer in charge of Police Regional Ofice 1 and San Fernanco City Councilor Rodolfo M. Abat, president of Saint John Bosco College of Northern Luzon, Inc. (SJBCNL) signed the MOAs during the traditional flag raising ceremony held here April 7.

Lazo said the scholarship program, dubbed as “Gawad Bosconian Para sa Kapulisan ng Region 1”, started in 2012  and covers the academic year 2012 to 2014 with nine scholars expected to graduate next year.

The MOA stated therein that in order for a continuous grant and availment of the scholaship program, there is a need for the renewal of the previously entered agreement of PRO1 and SJBCNL.

The renewed agreement will cover four academic years that  will end in 2018.

PSSupt. Lazo added that the scholarship program will provide free full tuition fee for qualified dependents of the uniformed and non-uniformed personnel of PRO1 who wish to enroll in any four-year courses in SJBCNL.

Meanwhile, as provided for in the other MOA signed between the PRO1 and SJBCNL, the college will give at least two free training on computer hardware servicing in a year with a maximum of 10 participating personnel particularly those designated as information technology personnel in the different stations or units of PRO1.

“We are fortunate for having this agreement with the Bosconian of the North, for it is beneficial particularly in our effort to enhance the information technology capability of our command, and we are thankful to the SJBCNL for the two-year partnership in this endeavor,” Lazo added.

Lazo, likewise expressed the cooperation of PRO1 for the successful implementation of said joint venture.#
