PRO1 steps up anti-criminality drive, focuses on riding in tandem criminals

SAN FERNANDO CITY– The police regional office has further intensified its drive against all forms of criminality, with emphasis on counter-measures against riding-in-tandem criminals during a conference of key PRO1 officials at the Masigasig Center here October 26.

The conference focused on on the implementation of  “Oplan Lambat” which enhances the Police Integrated Patrol System (PIPS) and to put in place a more pro-active intelligence-driven checkpoint operations to deter or drive away criminals and deny them the opportunity to commit crimes.

Police Senior Superintendent Mansue N. Lukban, PRO1 deputy director for operations, who presided over the conference said that a Task Force Lambat will be put up in every police station to identify criminals, particularly those engaged in gun-for-hire activities using motorcycles and other vehicles to conceal their weapons and evade fixed and mobile checkpoints.

“Each task force will be composed by motorcycle riding in tandem cops/mobile patrol cars, which will be used to drive suspicious vehicles towards established checkpoints; mobile checkpoint team, which will act as blocking force to seal the area during dragnet operations; fixed checkpoint team, which will be prepositioned at the main exit routes of the municipality/city; and spotters, which will be composed of intelligence personnel deployed to look out for suspicious vehicles and persons,” Lukban added.

Meanwhile, PRO1 regional director Police Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B, Bucayu has reiterated his call for a more focused approach against riding-in-tandem criminals and other lawless elements.

“We will neutralize them and keep the community safe,” Bucayu said.

Chiefs of the regional QUAD divisions, namely; intelligence, operations, investigation, and police-community relations were participants of the conference which was also attended by the deputy directors for operations of the four police provincial offices (Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte) and their respective provincial QUAD staff; the police chiefs of Region 1 cities; the commander of the 1st Regional Public Safety Battalion; and selected chiefs of regional police support units.

Also, during the said conference, the deputy provincial directors for operations presented their respective security preparation and personnel deployment in connection with the observance of All Saint’s’ Day and All Soul’s Day 2011.#
