PRO1 steps up security for “Undas 2011”

SAN FERNANDO CITY – Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) director Chief Superintendent Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu has directed his personnel to strengthen public safety measures all over the region in preparation for the observance of All Saint’s Day and All Soul’s Day on November 1 and 2, 2011.

Unit commanders are required to ensure the proper implementation of their respective security plan, deployment of personnel and overall strategy to achieve a peaceful and orderly Undas 2011, Bucayu said.

The security preparations entail the upgrading of route security, traffic management and preventive patrol operations in anticipation of the expected influx of people to the cemeteries and other places of convergence during the holidays.

Bucayu reminded his men to maintain a high level of alertness and to put up police assistance centers along the national highway and other major roads.

The Regional Director also directed police officials on the ground to continuously coordinate with the local government units, concerned national government agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways, and other stakeholders, especially the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPAT’s) and similar force multipliers that usually augment the police.

“We need to double our peace-keeping efforts in this season of Undas because this is the time we expect heavy traffic jams in our thoroughfares and congestion in commercial centers, shopping malls, public markets and cemeteries.  Criminals may take advantage of the situation to carry out their evil intentions,” Bucayu stressed.#
