CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO SAN FERNANDO CITY – The Police Regional Office 1 here plans to implement the Geographic Information System (GIS) after it was showcased by a top official during his visit here recently.
Police Regional Office Cordillera (PRO-COR) Director Chief Superintendent Benjamin B. Magalong, presented the Geographic Information System (GIS) as a modern way of crime mapping and documentation to the key personnel of PRO1, the police provincial directors together with their intelligence, operations and investigation branch staff during his visit here June 4..
The GIS had been implemented in the Police Regional Office Cordillera (pro-cor) which is headed by Magalong.
PRO1 Regional Director Chief Supt. Ricardo C. Marquez invited the PRO-COR director to present the GIS that he believes would be an effective tool for the operations and investigative capability of the police here in Region 1.
According to Magalong, the GIS is a modernized and effective instrumentality in crime analysis because it easily captures, manages, analyzes data and displays relevant information which accordingly allows the viewing, visualization and interpretation of a data.
“Using advance information and communication technology shall improve our anti-criminality and terrorism efforts because it ensures a speedy dissemination of orders using paperless transactions without using excessive work hours,” the PRO-COR director added.
During the open forum, the PRO1 director together with his directorial staff and other key personnel decided in favor of the GIS.
Marquez said that a training on GIS is being planned to prepare and equip all concerned personnel down to the police station level prior to its implementation.#
