LAOAG CITY — The Provincial Health Office (PHO) of the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte reported April 10 that the number of Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) in the province continues to decline, while the number of Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) has already been cleared.
As of April 11, PUMs in Ilocos Norte were narrowed down to 483 from 11, 622, and the province has not recorded any positive case almost two weeks since the first two cases have been announced.
The four PUIs who were originally recorded tested negative on their laboratory tests.
A total of 11,082 persons throughout the province have completed the 14-day quarantine period, as part of the preventive measures to secure possible transmission of the disease.
The Provincial Government, through the initiatives of Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc led various efforts such as implementation of intensified preventive and curative measures, performing rapid action and resource mobilization, procurement of additional medical materials, ensuring food security for constituents, and distribution of food packs, among others.
Gov. Marcos Manotoc has been the first Governor to declare community quarantine (March 14) and total lockdown (March 29) in the region, despite having no record of positive cases during that time.
The Provincial Government, together with the task force salun-at, medical health frontliners, and other private partners remains relentless in ensuring the safety and general welfare of its constituents and the entire community against the disease.
