“Rebel’s propaganda strategy recycled” says military chief

SAN JUAN, Ilocos Sur – Col. Manuel Mariano, commanding officer of the 503rd Infantry Brigade, Philippine Army, said in a press interview that the propaganda strategy employed by the CPP/NPA is just a mere recycled one.

According to Mariano, there is nothing new with the schemes and strategies these rebels use, since they have been employing the same pattern since then, like the distributing of propaganda materials such as “Dangadang” newsletters and other subversive documents.

“We must not glamorize these schemes and strategies employed by these communist terrorists, otherwise we will only be helping them achieve their goal,” the brigade commander said in a statement.

Mariano also related his past experience as “military attache in Vietnam, a communist country sometime in 1996.

“While the rest of the perceived communist countries have been trying hard to abandon communism by declining from armed conflicts, our own country’s advocates of communistic ideologies and (are) strongly regarded as enemy of democracy, have been determined to boost an armed struggle,” the army officer noted.

Col. Mariano was in the headquarters of the 50th IB Philippine Army based in barangay Guimod Norte, San Juan, Ilocos Sur to deliver an inspirational message in line with the battalion’s 22nd founding anniversary and pin meritorious medals distinguished soldier-awardees.
