CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – The Regional Joint Peace and Security Coordinating Center (RJPSCC) of Region 1 convened last November 6 in preparation of the upcoming 2016 national and local elections.
Acting Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) Chief Superintendent Ericson T. Velasquez said the conference focused on security preparations, election watch list areas (EWAs) and poll related incidents in the previous elections and insurgency situation in the region.
Velasquez said it is important to consider the previous poll incidents and relate them to the present in order to formulate better and appropriate actions for the promotion of peace and order before, during and beyond the election period. He added that safety and security shall be a continuing advocacy.
“Look back on how we performed in the previous elections, and fill the gaps and develop best practices to level up our performance and make the election day an ordinary one to let people choose leaders freely without retribution,” Velasquez said.
Meanwhile, Atty. Noli R. Pipo, Region 1 Election Director, expressed his gratitude to the members of RJPSCC for their invaluable support in the previous elections and for the early preparations and continuous support for the upcoming election.
Velasquez together with the members of the RJPSCC assured the constituents of Region 1 that PRO1 and its counterparts will continue working together to intensify the implementation of security plans all over the region.
