CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Personnel of the Regional Police Community Relations Division (RPCRD) headed by Police Superintendent Rolie M. Saltat and employees of the National Police Commission Regional Office 1 (NAPOLCOM-RO1) donated sports equipment and slippers for children in conflict with the law (CICL) during their visit at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth in Urayong, Bauang, La Union July 11.
Police Supt. Manuel P. Castro, Deputy Chief of RPCRD and Atty. Edwin O. Mapili, Chief Legal Unit of NAPOLCOM-RO1 also conducted a lecture on the rights of a child.
“Isipin ninyo sana na hindi kayo hinuli ng mga pulis dahil kayo ay may kasalanan… hinuli kayo dahil ayaw naming na kayo ay mapariwara at ginusto naming na kayo ay magkaroon ng mas maayos na buhay. Sapagkat kami po ay naniniwala na kayo ay likas na mababait,” PSupt. Castro said to the 64 residents of the rehab center supervised by Rolando F. Fortes, unit head of RRCY.
The RRCY is a facility run by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) wherein male juvenile delinquents undergo intensive treatment and reformation to prepare them for the reintegration to the community and to their families.
The CICL (residents) are boys aged 15 to 18 years old ordered by the court to undergo rehabilitation while waiting for the resolution of their suspended case.#
