SAN FERNANDO CITY, May 20 (PIA) — The National Nutrition Council (NNC) in the Ilocos and the Regional Nutrition and Evaluation Team have started assessing qualifiers for the Search for Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS).
Nutrition Officer Ethelreina Balisnomo said the search is intended to recognize nutrition scholars who have shown exemplary performance and achievements in the pursuit of nutrition programs and other services implemented in their areas.
Every provincial and city outstanding BNS will be evaluated and rated based on the annual accomplishment and targets set in his or her BNS action plan,” Balisnomo said.
The action plan includes several tasks that include identifying and locating target beneficiaries, delivering services and surveillance of identified malnourished children.
Balisnomo said that bonus points are given to additional activities performed by the BNS like assistance in other innovative programs or projects implemented and other barangay activities.
The BNS evaluation involves reviewing reports, records, written examinations, interviews of volunteer workers, beneficiaries, barangay nutrition council members, and project site visits.
The first ranking BNS at the city/provincial level with a final rating of 88 percent or higher will be declared as the Outstanding City/Provincial BNS.
Balisnomo said that the first ranking BNS contender with a final score of 90 percent and even higher will be adjudged as the Outstanding Regional BNS.
Balisnomo added that the winners will be honored in a ceremony during the Regional Nutrition Awarding in November where certificates of recognition, trophies, and awards will be handed to the outstanding BNS at the city, provincial, and regional levels.
The Outstanding Regional BNS will also become a nominee in the Outstanding National BNS search during the third quarter.(with reports from Ethelreina Balisnomo/NNC1)#
