Security guard nabbed for gun ban violation

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – Police Chief Superintendent Ricardo C. Marquez, Police Regional Office 1 Director announced today that Region 1 police has arrested a security guard for illegal possession of firearm in violation of the gun ban law.

PCSupt. Marquez identified the suspect as George B. Lizardo, 38 years old, married, and a native of Brgy. Supiil, San Juan, Abra who was arrested last April 12, 2013 for violation of RA 9284 and COMELEC Resolution 9561-A.

“From the start and up to the end of the election period, police anti-crime campaigns and endeavors shall not cease in bringing this Region a safe and peaceful brand new elections,” the regional director added.

The police confiscated from the suspect a Cal. 5.56 mm, Baby Armalite Rifle with SN K5077301 and markings M4 A1 Carbine with 3 magazines loaded with ammunitions and other personal belongings.  The confiscated items were turned-over to the Regional Crime Laboratory Office PRO1 for ballistics and cross-matching examination.

The suspect is now under the custody of San Fernando City Police Station for proper disposition.

Cases for violation of RA 9284 and COMELEC Resolution 9561-A were filed against the suspect at the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, San Fernando City, La Union.

Since the start of the election period, Region 1 police have confiscated a total of seventy-one guns and arrested 147 people for violating gun ban law.#
