Top most wanted criminal in Santa, Ilocos Sur dies in shootout

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – The top most wanted person (MWP) in Santa, Ilocos Sur died in an armed confrontation in Barangay Manueva, Santa during the serving of a warrant of arrest in the evening of November 7, 2018.

Police Chief Superintendent Romulo E. Sapitula, Regional Director of Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) identified the suspect as Robert P. Bueza, 41 years old, single, unemployed and a resident of Barangay Manueva, Santa, Ilocos Sur.

Based on the report, the suspect moved to the adjacent house of a certain Clarita Bueza upon noticing the presence of the police near his residence, and thereafter fired his caliber .45 pistol at the police prompting them to retaliate.

The suspect sustained gunshot wounds and was rushed by the police to the Rural Health Unit of Santa and later transferred to the Gabriela Silang General Hospital in Vigan City for medical treatment, but he was declared dead on arrival.

The operatives from the Criminal Investigation and Detective Group (CIDG) Ilocos Sur Provincial Field Unit, Ilocos Sur Provincial Intelligence Branch and Ilocos Sur Provincial Maneuver Force Company (ISPMFC) were serving a warrant of arrest for the crime of robbery with homicide against the suspect when the incident happened.

The SOCO team recovered at the crime scene one Colt MK IV series 80 cal .45 pistol, one magazine for cal. 45, six pieces cal. 45 ammunition, two fired cartridge cases of caliber 5.56mm and one bullet jacket.
