VIGAN CITY – To help uplift the lives of the out-of-school youths (OSYs) in this city, the city government of Vigan will spearhead an “Alay Lakad” program at 6AM on Sunday, September 24.
Vigan City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina said the annual walk-for-a-cause program aims to raise funds for assistance to the projects for the OSYs in the city.
“At least one percent from the salaries of the heads of office, ½ percent from the salaries of the rank and file employees, and voluntary contributions from non-government organizations, business sectors, among others, will be collected for the Alay Lakad project,” he said.
Walkers this year will assemble in front of the Vigan City Hall at 5AM and buses will ferry them to the five starting points namely the villages of Ayusan Sur, Beddeng Laud, Tamag, Pantay Fatima and Rugsuanan.
After the walk, the participants will converge at the Plaza Burgos for a short program.
Committed to the welfare of the youth, the city government called for all to support this walk-for-a-cause project which benefits the out-of-school youths.
“We look forward for your usual cooperation and contributions as these will greatly help the beneficiaries,” Medina said.#
