VIGAN CITY — The city government of Vigan will provide ‘transport loop service’ to help residents access basic necessities.
This was contained in an Executive Order released by Mayor Juan Carlo Medina yesterday, March 17, in response to the Luzon-wide Enhanced Community Quarantine declared by President Rodrigo Duterte that took effect yesterday.
Pick-up points for the transport service will be designated per barangay, and village officials are tasked to ensure orderly queueing. People who line up for a ride will be subjected to screening protocols.
The loop service will connect the barangay pick-up points to the Vigan City Public Market. The service will be available from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Only one individual per household will be allowed out and only to access basic necessities. Priority will be given to individuals holding Vigan City Access Cards.
The elderly, pregnant women, and other individuals with chronic illnesses that make them extra vulnerable to coronavirus infection are discouraged from venturing out.
As of this March 17, the Philippines has recorded 187 cases of the coronavirus disease, including 14 deaths. The virus has infected over 180,000 people and killed more than 7,000 worldwide.
