Vigan dads bat for construction of seawall, drainage canals, FMRs

VIGAN CITY – Two legislators here have submitted resolutions for the construction of a seawall, drainage canals and farm to market roads in several barangays here.

Councilor Maximo Alves in a resolution presented to the council here requested Mayor Ferdinand C. Medina to allocate P2 milion annually for the reconstruction of the seawall in Mindoro, a coastal barangay of this city.

“The seawall needs to be reconstructed to prevent the further erosion of the shoreline near the Playa de Oro, “ Alves said.
The said resthouse was built by the city government for tourist and local visitors.

The seawall which was built through the initiative of the then Congressman Mariano Tajon and Congressman Salacnib Baterina collapsed when Typhoon Milenyo battered the province last August.

Alves said they would again seek the assistance of Baterina to augment the amount to be allocated by the city govern-ment for the reconstruction of the seawall.

Meanwhile, Councilor Andres Adriatico has submitted three resolutions for the concreting of farm to market roads and construction of drainage canals in several barangays here.

Resolution No. 06-54 and 06-56 requested Mayor Medina to allocate funds for the concreting of farm to market roads for the Agrarian Reform Community project from Ayusan Norte to Pantay Fatima and from Nagsangalan to San Julian Sur.

Resolution No. 06-55 also requested Medina to allocate P5 million annually from the Annual Development Plan for the construction and repair of drainage canals within the city of Vigan.

Adriatico is the chairman of the committee on infrastructure.
