VIGAN CITY, June 21 (PIA) — Vigan officials attended a three-day strategic planning workshop at the Villa Fernandina De Vigan in Taguig City to create high impact programs for the next three years.
Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina said that the workshop looked into the city’s development, environment, and other areas for economic growth.
“We also assessed our performance in the last three years based on the strategic themes and goals as well as our mission-vision which we formulated in 2010,” she said.
“With this activity, we will reinforce our gains and achieve more by setting our targets and innovative strategies,” she added.
Professor Edel C. Guiza of the Asian Institute of Management (AIM), who facilitated the planning forum, laid down seven strategic themes which guided the performance assessment of both the executive and legislative officials of Vigan.
The themes were heritage-based economic growth; safe and clean environment; intensive local revenue generation; broadened participatory governance; transforming the city government to become results-driven; high quality social services; and proactive legislation.
“We will revisit the 2010 strategy map, balance the scorecard of the city government and fine tune them based on the new analysis and learning from the 2010–2013 experience of managing the heritage city,” Guiza said.
“After the workshop we are able to make a strategic plan for 2013-2016 as articulated in the strategy map and balance scorecard,” Guiza added.
The details of the strategic plan will serve as guide for the newly-elected city councilors in formulating resolutions and ordinances. #
