Village head in drugwatch list shot in La Union

BAUANG, La Union – The village chief of Brgy. Parian Este, Bauang, La Union was shot dead by two unidentified male suspects at about 8:30 in the morning, August 1, 2018 in Barangay Nagrebcan, Bauang, La Union.

The victim was identified as Alejo Calica Abuan Jr. who, according to reports, was listed as a drug surrenderee of the said municipality.

Abuan was on board his motorcycle on his way to attend the Liga ng mga Barangay regular session when shot by the suspects, both wearing black jackets and ball caps and riding a black motorcycle, according to witnesses.

The SOCO team was able to recover 5 fired cartridge cases and 2 fired bullets for caliber .45 from the crime scene.

Further, investigation revealed that the victim had at the time of the shooting a color maroon sling bag containing undetermined cash and cellular phones and these were believed to be taken by the perpetrators.

PSSUPT Ricardo G. Layug, Jr, La Union PPO Provincial Director ordered the neighboring police stations to conduct dragnet operations for possible apprehension of the suspects.

PCSupt Sapitula instructed the conduct of thorough investigation and to intensify police operations within the region to resolve the killing of Abuan immediately. (TNM/PNP PRO1 PIO)
