VP Binay credits PNoy, public for latest Pulse Asia survey ratings

Vice President Jejomar C. Binay on Monday thanked President Benigno S. Aquino III and the Filipino people for their trust and support following the release of a Pulse Asia survey showing a 7% increase in the Vice President’s performance and 9% in trust ratings.

“I am thankful for the continued support and trust of President Aquino and the Filipino people,” he said.

However, he expressed apprehension that the recently released survey will result in an intensified smear campaign against him and his family.

“Nevertheless, it is my hope that the same trust and support extended by the President and the people will not be used as an excuse to intensify the smear campaign against me and my family,” Binay said.

According to the Pulse Asia March 2014 Nationwide Survey on the Performance and Trust Ratings of the Country’s Top Five Government Officials, Binay posted approval and trust ratings of 87% and 86%, respectively.

Binay’s approval ratings for the first quarter of 2014 are up by 7% from the previous December 2013 survey, while his trust ratings went up by 9%.

The survey also showed that the Vice President had majority approval scores in every geographic area, which ranged from 79% to 92%.

Binay also registered majority approval scores in all economic classes, ranging from 80% to 88%.

The Vice President also registered majority trust ratings across geographic areas and socio-economic groupings (78% to 90% and 80% to 87%, respectively).

Binay was rated highest by the D and E socio-economic classes, registering 88% and 87%, respectively, in approval scores, and 86% and 87% in trust scores.

Binay added that the survey results do not change his determination to serve his countrymen.

“Whatever the results of the survey, my determination to uphold my responsibilities and serve our countrymen will never change,” he said.#
