VIGAN CITY – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST)-Ilocos Sur conducted a seminar recently to strengthen the knowledge and to improve the managing capability of owners and workers of DOST-assisted firms in the province.
Some 37 participants, consisting of owners, managers and workers from 23 DOST-assisted firms, attended the seminar on productivity held at the library of the Ilocos Sur Science and Technology Center here.
DOST Provincial Director Ramon Sumabat emphasized the “significance of understanding how to maximize the productivity of their firms without compromising the quality, competitiveness and affordability of the products as well as for them to “not settle for the good but always seek for the best.”
Speakers from the Regional Tripartite Wages and Product-ivity Board (RTWPB) in the Ilocos were invited to discuss the 5S on Good Housekeeping; ISTIV (Industrious, Systematic, Time-conscious, Innovative and strong Value for Work) on Positive Attitude of a Productive Worker; and Marketing, Organization and Stock Control to help the micro-enterprises become productive and competitive in the market.
The team from the RTWPB-1 also gave activities to the participants for interactive learning and application of the topics learned. (With reports from DOST)
